ABOUT US

FISH LOCAL. EXPLORE LOCAL. VACATION LOCAL.

Fourth Island Charters gets its name from the "fourth" US Virgin Island...Water Island. Although most have never even heard of this little paradise; it was the last island to become a US territory on December 12, 1996.

With roughly 491 acres and no more than 100 full time residents, Water Island is the smallest of the USVI territories. It is the birthplace of one of the owners and where the company was established in 2017.

We are conveniently located in Crown Bay Marina. This is walking distance to Crown Bay Center cruise ship port and shopping center. Less than a mile away is the Charlotte Amalie harbour; loaded with restaurants, sites and attractions.

ABOUT THE CREW

Captain Arthur is a native of Water Island with fishing and passion for the 4th Virgin Island running through his blood. His grandfather was an Abalone diver on the West Coast and his uncle is a commercial fisherman in New England. Needless to say, Arthur's introduction to the trade was as early as he could walk. With these Caribbean waters being his backyard, Arthur grew up with quite an advantage to most other charter captains in the area. Not many can say they drove a dinghy before a car or learned to swim at Honeymoon beach. Before starting the business in 2017, Captain Art had spent years working on numerous charter boats under seasoned captains and countless hours reeling in fish in the Virgin Island and stateside. He is a US Coast Guard certified captain that has great respect for the water and his home. He is professional and knowledgeable. Whether its getting on the bite or exploring new islands, Captain Arthur will work hard to make sure that you have an enjoyable and memorable day on the water!

Kelsey originally hails from Virginia. Spending every summer in the Outer Banks, she was drawn to the ocean and water from birth. In 2005, her family took a cruise to the Virgin Islands. From that summer on, she worked in the boat yards and on charter boats in the area. After graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, Kelsey wanted to move back to the islands. However, she got a job event planning in Washington, DC. She spent 5 years in the rat race before realizing the islands were where her heart was. With 15 years of island knowledge, personal experience with term charters/day charters and an event background, Kelsey decided it was about time to start her own gig. Although you will sometimes catch her out on the boats, she will be the one booking your trips, planning your adventures and making sure you have the best and safest time on the water!

THE OWNERS
OUR FRENCHY FISHERMAN

Derek is the real deal. Coming from generations of fisherman in the Caribbean islands, there is no one better to go out on the water with. Born and raised on St.Thomas, Derek has been fishing for over 40 years in this area. Hell...there is even a fish market in Frenchtown with his family name on it. He knows just about everything you could about the fishing game in the Virgin Islands. As a commercial fisherman, he makes a living of being on the water day and night. He has local knowledge and loves telling fish tales. You may think some of the techniques are a little odd compared to what you are used to back home... but hook up all day with Derek and you will be a believer in the Frenchy ways. If you're lucky, he will be the first mate on your fishing adventures!
